Food Operations Manager

Littlestown, PAFull Time

The Food Operations Manager oversees the culinary department that serves the youth attending Hoffman Homes treatment facility and the Hoffman Academy school. This position acts as Manager in regard to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National School Lunch Program. The Food Operations Manager assists the Director of the School Nutrition Program to ensure that the culinary services are delivered in a manner compliant with standards stated by regulatory agencies to include, but not limited to, the USDA, Pennsylvania Department of Education and Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Schedule: Year-round, Mon-Fri

Duties Include

  • Plan and publish all menus within PDE/USDA Standards, using Primero Edge; and adhere to the provisions of the National School Lunch Program.
  • Direct the daily responsibilities of the culinary department personnel.
  • Order and receive all food & supplies necessary to meet the needs of the department.
  • Oversee all kitchen functions, activities, equipment needs and preparation.
  • Provide food and beverage setup and teardown for special events
  • Maintain ServSafe certification
  • Complete and store culinary documentation, and review compliance manuals in preparation for the 3-year PDE administrative review.

Desired Minimum Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in school nutrition programs.
  • 3 years kitchen supervisory experience.
  • Minimum Prior Training Standards: At least 10 hours of annual food safety training.
  • ServSafe certification
  • Child Abuse, PA Criminal, and FBI clearances will be processed showing qualifications to work in an environment around children.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Operate typical office equipment to include a computer, software (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.), copier, scanner, fax machine, phone etc.
  • Ability to learn software applications for ordering and menu posting.
  • Operate commercial culinary equipment.
  • Critical thinking skills in order to problem-solve and utilize the collected student data.
  • High self-monitoring skills in order to present in a professional manner and be an effective team player.
  • Independent working skills.
  • Ability to work at an efficient pace
